Cashmere is the softest, most luxurious and the warmest wool in the world.
It comes from the hair of underbelly of mountain goat Capra Hircus, which is special breed of goat indigenous to high altitudes ( 12000 ft. to 14000 ft.) of the Himalayan region where temperature goes down up to-40 degree centigrade.
This high altitude, combined with the goat's spartan diet and genetic makeup, enables it to grow a coat, which provides feather-light wool, the finest and warmest on earth.
The best grade of cashmere is 14-15.5 microns in diameter and is collected in the high plateau regions of Ladakh, Nepal and the central plains of Inner Mongolia.

1. Why is cashmere so expensive?
The harsh climatic condition of Himalayan region supports a very limited number of goats. It takes one of these rare goats four years to grow enough cashmere for one sweater. Each goat is combed by hand every spring. Then the fleece is collected and sorted b--y hand. Cashmere sweaters are usually knit on hand-operated machines. Therefore, the scarcity of the fibre and the handwork required to convert that fibre into a luxurious garment both contribute to cashmere's price.
2. Why do similar looking cashmere sweaters have very different prices?
There are significant differences in the quality of cashmere and therefore, the price of the fiber that can be used in a cashmere garment. There are variations in the fineness of the cashmere from various origins. Finer cashmere is more expensive than coarser cashmere. Colour also plays a role. The whiter, more expensive fiber needs less dye to colour it. Dying harms the feel of the cashmere so this is important. Yet, even cheaper cashmere still feels lovely.
Cashmere fibre is also priced by its length. Longer fibre is more expensive because it makes stronger yarn that pills less. All of these variables play a role in the cost variation between seemingly similar garments. Usually you get what you pay for.
3. Can I wash my cashmere knitwear?
Generally, dry cleaning is the preferred method of washing Cashmere products. However, you can hand wash occasionally if you are careful and follow a few guidelines that are listed below. We do suggest washing it before first use to make sure the natural vegetable dyes do not bleed.
1.WASHING: To Wash by hand, soak it in soapy Luke- warm water for a little while, and then wash very gently rubbing soiled areas. Then rinse it two or three times thoroughly until there's no more soap left. Do not wring the product as the cashmere fabric is sensitive to pressure, and rough handling.
2. DRYING: To Dry, lay it flat on a drying rack, but make sure it's evenly spreaded across the rack, rather than simply hung, because hanging while wet stretches the fabric.; Another option if you don't have a rack is just to get a dry towel and let dry on the towel.
3. IRONING: Now, your sweater is clean! But you'll probably notice a great deal of unsightly wrinkles populating on its surface. This is perfectly normal. It is best to put your cashmere knitwear between two towels on medium heat and iron those wrinkles away.
4. STORAGE For safe keeping, make sure you store your cashmere product in a way that doesn't bunch it up. Fold it neatly and either place it on a hanger of keep it on a shelf.
PILLING
Cashmere is one of the finest natural fibres in the world. Knitwear made from this precious and delicate fibre is luxurious to wear but requires a little more care and attention than products made from coarser wools.
After wearing your new cashmere garment for the first times you might find small balls of fibre forming on the surface. These small balls or "pills" are caused by some of the loose fibre tangling together as areas of your garment are rubbed during wear.
The "pilling" IS NOT indicative of inferior quality – it is an inevitable consequence of the careful processing of this fine fibre. Pills can be easily removed by hand or by using a cashmere comb.
You will find that, removing the pills in this way, the garment will actually consolidate and soften in handle and touch. Like fine wine, cashmere will improve with age if cared for properly.
